My Credit Score
My credit is important to me. Good management of my credit can result in favorable lending terms and an improved lifestyle. That's why I regularly check my credit scores to see if they accurately reflect my credit. My credit scores are calculated from a variety of credit related factors. When lenders and creditors view my credit history, they want to see good signs of credit management. This indicates creditworthiness.
There are three different types of credit scores that I should be aware of. They come from the three main credit bureau agencies in the country: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Each one is slightly different, so it's important that I check each of them.
A commonly used type of credit score is the FICO score. FICO is actually a scoring model. So I can have an Equifax FICO credit score and a TransUnion FICO score. There is no Experian FICO Score.
