There are many factors that go into determining one's credit score. Different scoring models weigh certain credit history factors more than others. Learning and understanding these credit factors can lead to better credit and financial management.

There are two main credit scoring models. They are FICO and VantageScore. FICO is the most widely used one. It is used to calculate both Equifax and TransUnion credit score.

Both scoring models look at these general credit factors: -Payment History -Credit Utilization -Depth of Credit -Balances -Recent Credit -Available Credit
